Hail to the King Baby....

Duke Nukem Forever,” a video game synonymous with never being released, is finally being released
God Bless the boys from iD Software for Sharing.

I remember the shareware version of their games back in the day. Wolfenstein 3D, Commander Keen, through Apogee Software/3D Realms. What a great idea...Shareware.
Although it was not the earliest shooter game ...Image via Wikipedia
The shareware distribution method was initially employed by id Software through Apogee Software to sell their products, such as the Commander Keen, Wolfenstein and Doom games. They would release the first part of their trilogy as shareware, then sell the other two installments by mail order.
Duke trying to break through to his final stand, or forever stand, seemed to end with the closing of 3D Realms in 2009. Despite the hurdles for Duke Nukem Forever I am glad to see some promising news. Announced in 1997,10 years in development by 2009, a possible release in 2011, this may be the game of the century. No matter if it ends up being a crap game or same 'ole Duke just in High Def, I will be getting this game.

This was a game that brought hours of enjoyment, inspired countless players to become game designers and offered cut scenes that were “award” worthy. This was my first first...my introduction to a noteworthy First Person Shooter.

Patiently waiting the return of the king....
