Gods and Heroes:Rome Rising The Second Coming
Perpetual Entertainment closes, leaves Gods and Heroes shelved.

But first, here's a refresher on the game. Gods and Heroes is being labeled as an Action/Adventure MMOG. This is due to its realistic combat system. The animations are more than your standard repetitive sword strikes. Some of the normal combat skills, or "feats," include wrestling grapples with sleeper holds and eviscerating sword plunges reminiscent of something you'd see in God of War.
The Demise -
San Francisco-based developer Perpetual Entertainment has pushed back the release of its PC MMORPG Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising, due to the need for further beta testing.
This is the second time the target launch has been delayed; the prior incident coincided with layoffs at Perpetual in December 2006.

Perpetual Entertainment has announced that it has ceased development of Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising - MMO scheduled for release on PC in 2008. In a post over on the game's official community website, Perpetual president Chris McKibbin revealed that the development team's efforts would be better used on the upcoming Star Trek Online and the company's Online Game Platform business.
The recent debate brought about by Jeff Gerstmann's dismissal from Gamespot has focused a lot of attention on the role of advertiser manipulation of reviews. Now a lawsuit brought by PR firm Kohnke Communications against what remains of Perpetual Entertainment has unveiled an interesting element of their business relationship. From the language of the agreement:"Kohnke's public relations campaign was successful in creating pre-release 'buzz' around Gods & Heroes, and in convincing reviewers to write positive reviews about the game. In addition, on information and belief, Perpetual had signed up more than 100,000 beta testers for Gods & Heroes, a large number for an unreleased MMO."
A lawsuit filed by industry public relations firm Kohnke Communications against former Star Trek Online developer Perpetual Entertainment has reportedly been dismissed in court following a mutual resolution by both parties.
According to multiple sources, P2 Entertainment (formally Perpetual Entertainment) has officially closed their doors. This means an end to all projects, including their planned focus on casual games. There is no indication at this time what it means for the Perpetual Platform, which had been licsened to studios like Bioware Austin.

PC MMO Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising has been rescued by developer Heatwave Interactive, which has acquired the game as well as multiple licenses for its engine technology. Now, development is back underway.

Carlos Augusto Alves Santana (born July 20, 1947) is a Mexican American rock guitarist. Santana became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which pioneered rock, salsa andjazz fusion. The band's sound featured his melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against Latin and African rhythms featuring percussion instruments such as timbales and congas not generally heard in rock music. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades. He experienced a resurgence of popularity and critical acclaim in the late 1990s. Rolling Stone named Santana number 15 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2003. He has won 10 Grammy Awards and 3 Latin Grammy Awards.
In 1966, he gained prominence by a series of accidental events all happening on the same day. Santana was a frequent spectator at Bill Graham's Fillmore West. During a Sunday matinee show, Paul Butterfield was slated to perform there but was unable to do so as a result of being intoxicated. Bill Graham put together an impromptu band of musicians he knew mainly from the Grateful Dead, Butterfield's own band and Jefferson Airplane, but he had not yet picked all of the guitarists at the time.
Santana's manager, Stan Marcum, immediately suggested to Graham that Santana join the impromptu band and Graham assented. During the jam session, Santana's guitar playing and solo gained the notice of both the audience and Graham. During the same year, Santana formed the Santana Blues Band, with fellow street musicians, David Brown and Gregg Rolie (bassist and keyboard player, respectively).
With their highly original blend of Latin-infused rock, jazz, blues, salsa, and African rhythms, the band (which quickly became known simply as Santana) gained an immediate following on the San Francisco strip club. The band's early success, capped off by a memorable performance at Woodstock in 1969, led to a recording contract with Columbia Records, then run by Clive Davis.
Bill Graham, who had been a fan of the band from the start, convinced the promoters of the Woodstock Music and Art Festival to let them appear before their first album was even released. They were one of the surprises of the festival; their set was legendary and, later, the exposure of their eleven-minute instrumental "Soul Sacrifice" in the Woodstock film and soundtrack albums vastly increased Santana's popularity.

*It was the third and last album by the Woodstock-era lineup, and it was also considered by many to be the band's peak commercially and musically, as subsequent releases aimed towards more experimental jazz and Latin music. The album featured two singles, "Everybody's Everything" (solo by Neal Schon), which hit #12 in October 1971, and "No One To Depend On" (again with solo by Schon), a staple in FM radio. This is the first album to feature 17-year-old Neal Schon on guitar. In 1972 he and Gregg Rolie left the band to form Journey.

1972 saw creative differences in the band and a musical change with Carlos Santana. Jazz, Eastern Indian and classical influences.
Most-notable of the band's commercial efforts of this era was a version of the 1960s Zombies hit, "She's Not There", on the 1977 album Moonflower.
The pressures and temptations of being a high-profile rock musician and requisites of the spiritual lifestyle which guru Sri Chinmoy and his followers demanded, were great sources of conflict to Santana's lifestyle and marriage. He was becoming increasingly disillusioned with what he thought was Chinmoy's unreasonable rules imposed on his life, in particular, his refusal to allow Santana and Deborah to start a family. He felt too that his fame was being used to increase the guru's visibility. Santana and Deborah eventually ended their relationship with Chinmoy in 1982.
